It’s no secret that I love makeup, but only on special occasions or nights out do I really go all out. For day-to-day wear I either keep it pretty minimal or I do not wear any at all. On days that I do wear makeup, I try and stick with cream or liquid products as they usually appear more natural on the skin than powder products. This is the routine that I do for an easy, glowy, and natural everyday makeup look!
I always start with primer to smooth out my skin and get it ready for foundation. It also helps my makeup last longer throughout the day! The Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer and the Makeup Up Forever Hydrating Primer are both my favorites.
Foundation + Concealer
I usually try and use as little of foundation and concealer as possible, since using too much can cause it to look thick and unnatural. I also always blend everything out with a damp beauty blender so the base looks as smooth and airbrushed as possible. The damp beauty blender also takes away excess product on my face so it looks less heavy (the way a brush can sometimes make it look).
The It Cosmetics CC+ Cream has always been a favorite of mine for foundation, as well as the Makeup Forever HD Foundation. Both are high coverage but don’t look or feel like too much makeup! For concealer, the only one I use is Tarte Shape Tape – there is just no concealer like it! I apply it under my eyes, down my nose, and on my chin.
Bronzer + Blush + Highlight
Like I mentioned before, sticking to cream and liquid products always looks more natural than powders, so for the rest of my face makeup I try do that as well.
A cream bronzer I love is Hoola Contour Stick. It is meant as a contour product but I use it to bronze! Still with the damp beauty blender, I tap the product where I normally would contour and bronze my face – on the hollows of my cheeks, my forehead, the sides of my nose, and down my neck. This makes my skin look super glowy!
For blush, Glossier’s Cloud Paint is amazing. I’ve only recently discovered this brand and have been obsessed with trying their products! The cloud paint I use is in the shade Dusk and what I do is I tap it into the apples of my cheeks and blend it back into my bronzer with the damp beauty blender. It blends so easily and is the perfect shade for a natural blush. I’m obsessed with this product and how it looks on my skin!
Highlighter is one of those products that I have to wear if I wear makeup. I just feel like it brings my skin back to life after the foundation and concealer! So the one I always wear is the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Cream in Opal. It is the best natural highlighter and is sooo easy to blend out! I’ve been using this product for years. I put this on the high points of my cheeks, down my nose, under my brow bone, and in the inner corners of my eyes! Another great cream highlight is Benefit Watt’s Up Highlighter.
A Little Bit Of Powder
Even though everything I have used so far is cream or liquid based, it is important to set with a powder so that the makeup will last. I set my makeup with the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder with a really light hand to continue the natural look. I use as little product as possible just to ensure my makeup will not move throughout the day, and I especially focus on setting the under eye area. I apply it super lightly not to look cakey!
After powdering, I sometimes will apply a tiny bit of powder bronzer and powder highlight over the places where I applied those same cream products, to enhance the glow a little bit. But that’s usually the only other step I will take on my face makeup!
For day-to-day, I do not usually wear eyeshadow as it tends to look a little too done up for me. The only thing I may do, is use a little bit of either a bronzer or a matte brown shade and blend it through my crease. But usually I skip this step all together.
Instead I like to wear a few different kids of mascaras to make my lashes appear super long. I have really short lashes that tend to stick straight out, so I always curl them first. Then for mascara, my favorites are the Too Faced Better Than Sex, Maybelline Lash Sensational, It Cosmetics Superhero, and the Lancome Hypnose Drama. I usually am wearing some sort of combo of those three as I find they each give my lashes length and volume without looking clumpy!
I usually skip eyeliner too, for the same reason as the eyeshadow – it looks a little much on me for everyday, but I love to wear it when I go out!
Brows are one of my favorite parts of makeup because I feel that the way you fill in your eyebrows will determine the shape of the entire face. I use the Benefit Goof Proof Eyebrow Pencil and the 3D Brow Tones Eyebrow Enhancer to make my brows more full and thick. I lightly fill them in, and I even over line them a little bit, with the eyebrow pencil and then I set my brows in place with brow gel. Love both of those products and how easy they are to work with!
I carry with me the Agave Lip Mask or the Korres Lip Butter and reapply them throughout the day. The lip mask makes my lips super soft and hydrated, but also gives them tons of shine and the lip butter has a nude pink tint to it and is the best whipped formula. Both are staples of mine as I usually gravitate away from lipstick for day-to-day.
Setting My Makeup
My last step is to set my face with a setting spray. In this post I talked how girls forget to set their makeup sometimes and that it’s super important to do so in order to make it all look natural and lock it all into place. Some of my favorite setting sprays are the Smashbox Primer Water and Mario Badescu’s Rose Water.
Afterwards, I usually fan myself until the setting spray dries and then I go about my day! Let me know if we use any similar products or what you guys use to achieve your everyday makeup.
Talk to you all soon xx
