I have briefly mentioned before that I have anxiety but I have not really talked about the details of it with you guys. I will eventually, but it’s a weird/difficult/awkward post to write so I have been holding back a little. Soon though!!
Having said that, anxiety sucks. Being stressed out, sucks. Being stressed out when you are someone who has anxiety, sucks even more. Some days I struggle to get out of bed, and other days I can’t wait to get the day started. It’s very up and down. But for the most part it just sucks.
Since I have been dealing with anxiety/stress related issues since I was in my early teens I have tried just about everything (except medication) in hopes dealing with it. Although I will never fully be able to get rid of those emotions, I have definitely learned to deal with them in ways that help me get through the day. Whether you are someone who struggles with anxiety, has a lot on their plate, or just needs some coping tips for day-to-day stressors – this post is for you.
Here are some of the top ways that I deal with anxiety and stress.
I find that when I make it to the gym 4-5 times a week, it helps me better cope with any stressors going on in my life, or my anxiety. I do not have a particular fitness routine when I’m at the gym, but I usually will run or walk on an incline on the treadmill for around 30 minutes and then I do some body weight exercises such as lunges, squats, push-ups, etc. And I always always always sit in the sauna afterwards. Something about it just makes me feel so much better. I usually switch it up but that’s basically it. Going to the gym 4-5 times a week does not take away my anxiety, but it helps me deal with it and release some stress as I’m working out.

Since taking the Big Chill vitamin, I have noticed a huge difference in not only how often I get anxious, but also the severity of the anxiety – thankfully, it is now much lower! I take this at night so that it kicks in for the entire next day, and I really have felt a difference since using it. I also have noticed that when I do feel the anxiety or stress coming on, I am able to better calm myself down. I did an entire post on essential oils and mentioned some that I use for anxiety. I wanted to mention them again here, as well as add a few more favorites that have helped me. Angelica and Lavender are two oils that I have previously mentioned for de-stressing. I still use and love them! An oil blend I love for anxiety is Northern Lights Black Spruce. This oil has helped me SO much lately. I put it on the bottom of my feet mostly, but sometimes even just smelling the oil helps. Another oil combo for those that experience stress is Lavender and Cedarwood. The oils are so calming and relaxing – I diffuse these at night when I’m going to sleep! Oils are so beneficial for emotional balance and they are great to de-stress with, which is why I love them.
Write It Out
Sometimes if a bunch of stuff is clouding my head I will write it all down in a notebook/journal. This helps me visualize what it is that I am stressing about and it helps me see the big picture. I usually end up realizing that it’s not that big of a deal and that I’m just freaking myself out. Super, super helpful if you can’t distinguish what you are stressed or anxious about, like me sometimes. The way I do this is every time something worrisome comes into my mind, I write it down – even if it’s a sheet of paper that I carry with me throughout the day. Writing it out seems to really help. This puts everything into perspective and it really helps me distinguish between what is worth stressing out over and what is not.
Music + Podcasts
Sometimes just throwing on some headphones and listening to music or a podcast helps. It helps tune everything out and keep my focus on one thing. I did a post on podcasts before, mentioning some personal favorites, and I plan to do a post on my music playlist for you guys soon! But this tip has definitely helped me if I need an escape, especially if I’m in a crowd or a public place.
